If you are using a firewall or a router in a home network, you need to be sure to have the following ports open in order to get the most out of your FyreTV service.

The User Interface is cached on the machine; just because you can see the Enter Pin screen doesn’t mean that you can view streaming content.

How to open the ports on a router?

The Fyre BoXXX requires the following ports to be open:

TCP: 8181, 8182, 8183, 554, 12697, 21
UDP: 123

You can open the above ports by placing the box into a DMZ.

1)Write down the IP address of the Fyre BoXXX found under the “network settings menu”
2)Access the router’s user interface by typing the Gateway address found on the network settings menu of your Fyre BoXXX in the address bar of your internet browser
3)The menu to setup a DMZ is usually found under the “firewall” / “security” / “applications & gaming” but differs by company
4) Once the DMZ menu is located, place the IP address of the Fyre BoXXX in the DMZ field and enable it.

The following list of troubleshooting steps can help you reset your network to allow your Fyre BoXXX to synch up to your network so you can view streaming content.

Issues
- I cannot watch content
- My test connection fails

Obtaining an IP address - Cable internet
The issue of a Fyre BoXXX not able to pull an IP address in the network configuration menu of the Fyre BoXXX usually results from a connection not able to be established with your router / modem. If you are not receiving an IP address or are receiving a 169.xxx.xxx.xx address then your Fyre BoXXX is not configuring itself properly and communicating with the modem / router.

Proceed to the "ENTER Pin" screen on the STB User Interface > "network configurations" > leave the "Automatic" (DHCP) checked > hit apply. If this option corrects the issue you will receive a "DCHP configuration has been set successfully" message. If this does not result in a "DCHP configuration has been set successfully" message proceed to the steps below.

1) Remove the power from the Cable modem and the router if present and leave everything unplugged.

2) Remove the Ethernet cable and power cord from the back of the Fyre BoXXX.

3) Plug in and power on the router if present and allow it to reconfigure itself if no router is present, plug in and power on the Fyre BoXXX before proceeding to step 4.

4) Plug in the cable modem and allow it to reconfigure itself before accessing the Fyre BoXXX.

5) Proceed to the "network configuration" option on the Enter PIN screen > keep the "automatic (DHCP)" option checked > hit the "apply" button to reconfigure the network settings, if this option corrects the issue you will receive a "DCHP configuration has been set successfully" message. If this does not correct your issue proceed to Tier 2.

Note: Some modems have a recessed reset or reboot button that will need to be pushed in order to reset the modem configuration settings. The recessed button may not be able to be pushed with your finger and will require a paper clip or pin tip to push the button. If you have a network configuration of modem > box and your attempts to power cycle the network are still not resulting in the box pulling an IP address, you will need to look for the recessed button in order to reset your modem settings instead of a modem power cycle.

Obtaining an IP address - DSL internet
Proceed to the "ENTER Pin" screen on the STB User Interface > "network configurations" > leave the "Automatic" (DHCP) checked > hit apply. If this option corrects the issue you will receive a "DCHP configuration has been set successfully" message. If this does not result in a "DCHP configuration has been set successfully" message proceed to the steps below.

1) Remove the power (power cycle) from the Cable modem and the router if present and leave everything unplugged.

2) Remove the Ethernet cable and power cord from the back of the Fyre BoXXX.

3) Plug in and power on modem and allow it to come back online and then power on the router if present and allow it to reconfigure itself if no router is present, plug in and power on the Fyre BoXXX before proceeding to step 4.

4) Proceed to the "network configuration" option on the Enter PIN screen > keep the "automatic (DHCP)" option checked > hit the "apply" button to reconfigure the network settings, if this option corrects the issue you will receive a "DCHP configuration has been set successfully" message. If this does not correct your issue proceed to Tier 2.

The recessed button may not be able to be pushed with your finger and will require a paper clip or pin tip to push the button. Reconfiguring Your Network Settings – DSL / Cable
First proceed to the "network configuration" option on the Enter PIN screen > keep the "automatic (DHCP)" option checked > hit the "apply" button to reconfigure the network settings. If this option corrects the issue you will receive a "DCHP configuration has been set successfully" message. If this does not result in a  "DCHP configuration has been set successfully" message proceed to the following steps.

1) Remove the power (power cycle) from the DSL and or the router if present and leave everything unplugged for 5 seconds

2) Remove the Ethernet cable and power cord from the back of the Fyre BoXXX

3) Plug in the modem and allow it to reconfigure itself (wait for modem to reconfigure before proceeding to step 4 if necessary)

4) Plug in the router if present and allow it to reconfigure itself

5) Plug the Ethernet cable into the back of the Fyre BoXXX

6) Plug the power cord into the back of the Fyre BoXXX, wait 5 seconds and turn on the Fyre BoXXX

7) Proceed to the "network configuration" option on the Enter PIN screen > keep the "automatic (DHCP)" option checked > hit the "apply" button to reconfigure the network settings, if this option corrects the issue you will receive a "DCHP configuration has been set successfully" message. If this does not correct the your issue proceed to Tier 2.

WIFI Network Strength
If you are using a WIFI set-top box be sure to check the network strength. It might be necessary to relocate your WIFI set-top box to an unobstructed or higher location. We have had reports of some users who placed their WIFI set-top box inside their entertainment cabinet not able to receive smooth content playback or had an abundance of server timeouts.
