The movie frames will momentarily freeze when your Internet connection has dropped below 800 kbs. Depending on your Internet service provider and your Internet speed, heavy Internet usage including uploading and downloading will adversely affect the viewing quality of your content.
DVD requires 1500kbs of constantly available bandwidth
High requires 1100kbs of constantly avaiAlable bandwidth
Medium requires 800kbs of constantly available bandwidth
There are several reasons why you may be experiencing choppy playback:
1) Bandwidth is the #1 issue for choppy playback, go to the “network settings” menu at the enter pin screen of the Fyre BoXXX and test your connection with the “Test Connection” option. If you return results less than 2800kbs, local network congestion could be an issue especially if you are on a Cable modem watching during peak internet times or downloading large files.
2) If you have plenty of bandwidth at least a consistent bandwidth connection of 3000kbs plus and are constantly receiving choppy playback your issue is most likely due to a router setting. The first thing to check is the router Firmware which is the most common reason for choppy playback not related to bandwidth. If your router’s firmware is up to date check the following router / firewall settings have been known to cause choppy playback QoS, SPI, Multicast, RTSP.
If you do not know about the above router settings, please contact FyreTV Support to troubleshoot your issue.
