This FAQ inquiry is related to video output and not being able to see any graphics on the screen. If you are able to see the Enter Pin screen but not able to view streaming content then you need to proceed to the "network" category of the FAQ.
Ensure that the correct video outputs are plugged into the back of your Fyre BoXXX and television set, please refer to the diagram below
Select the proper video output on your television using your TV’s remote or through your TV’s menu
Red / White / Yellow cables known as RCA / Composite cables are provided by FyreTV and will only work in their corresponding outputs
* Its normal for the box to take a little longer to boot on HDMI, the system opens all the analog ports first (component, s-video, etc) and then it opens up the digital ports, HDMI @ 480p. It’s normal for the box to take UP TO 1 minute to boot up the first time using the HDMI connection, however after that it should only take a few seconds.
If you are connecting the box for the first time have a little patience while the HDMI port starts up, if it doesn’t, try an analog port wait for it to boot up and then go back to the HDMI port.
Video Connections The STB has 2 types of video outputs, analog and digital. On the back of the Fyre BoXXX there are 3 different types of video connections. You will need to decide which video connection your television supports. FyreTV recommends the HDMI connection for best audio & video quality. (the below output types are listed from best to good)
Digital output: HDMI (included) Analog output: Component also known as RGB or red, green, blue Analog output: S video Analog output: Composite connection also known as RCA or red, white, yellow (included)
HDMI Connection: Transfers both audio and video in one cable in full high definition and surround sound. This is the best choice in regards to quality and less cable clutter.
Component Connection: If you choose to use the component cables (red, green, blue) which are not included with the FyreTV equipment, you will still need to plug something in for audio. There are three component video cables, but they only carry - video, not audio. Most likely, you will use the red and white composite connections or the fiber optic connection for audio.
S-video connection (cable not included in FyreTV equipment): is similar to the composite video connection (but looks different) in regards to its technical aspects. It only carries a video signal so you will need to use the red and white composite connections for audio or the fiber optic connection for audio.
The Fyre BoXXX has the user interface cached on the set-top-box. This means that you should be able to see the Enter PIN screen regardless if you have an internet connection. If you cannot see the ENTER PIN screen, you will need to try a different audio visual (A/V) connection and / or connect the Fyre BoXXX up to a different television. No internet connection is needed to test whether the Fyre BoXXX is transmitting an audio / visual signal. (troubleshooting will be discussed below)
On most TVs, the video input which is sometimes labeled as “input” or “TV/Video” can be on your TV remote or the control panel located on the front of the TV. You will need to change to the input that corresponds with the input that you are using on the back of the TV, which should be labeled something like "Video 1" or “Video 2”. On the TV, you should switch the input to the corresponding video to see the Enter Pin screen of the Fyre BoXXX.
Issue: Customer only sees a black screen
Steps
1) How do you have your set-top-box connected to the TV?
Some TVs are known to have issues with HDMI, ensure that all of the A/V connections are securely connected and the TV is on the correct input for that A/V connection.
2) Can you try using a different A/V connection?
All of the A/V ports (connections) are powered on at the same time; the HDMI is the last A/V connection to be powered on. If you are using a HDMI connection it may take up to a minute for the TV to register the HDMI connection. You will be able to hook up all of the available A/V connections and power through your TV inputs to see which A/V connection is working and not working.
3) Step 1 & 2 attempted: Are you able to see the Enter Pin Screen?
Can you connect the Fyre BoXXX to a different TV (internet connection is not needed) to view the Enter Pin screen.
a. If you cannot see the Enter Pin Screen on a different TV (ensure that all A/V connections are securely connected and the TV is on the correct input) a RMA must be issued for your equipment.
b. If you can see the Enter Pin Screen on a different TV, the issue lies with your TV. Try to hook up the Fyre BoXXX back up to the TV where you would like to use the service to see if you can see a picture.
